lady eagles have successful tournament

The Lady Eagles traveled up the road to Greenville to play in the Landair Ladies’ Classic.  
They won their first game 38-27 over North Greene but lost their next two to Science Hill and Wilson Central who both have very strong basketball programs.  Science Hill (4-0) was 2011 State runner-up with everyone returning.
Seymour had two key players injured; Jordan Ballard and Brittany Seagle which made things even more difficult.
The year 2012 started much better for the Seymour Lady Eagles as they traveled down Chapman Highway to edge out the Lady Cherokees 49-44.
The return of two starters Ballard and Seagle, who have been out for several weeks due to injuries, made a big difference in Coach Brandi Stalling’s team.
Stallings didn’t seem completely thrilled, however, over the performance of her team even though they won.
Now that the bulk of the IMAC schedule is in front of them, the coach seems to be concerned over the overall team chemistry as they struggled against team which probably won’t challenge for the IMAC upper echelon.
The Lady Eagles fell behind early by 10 points and had to play catch up the second half as they trailed 17-7 the first quarter and 23-18 at intermission.
In the second half Seymour rallied led by Mariah Flynn, Victoria Nelson, Ballard and Seagle who hit some clutch free throws in the end to put the game away.
The Lady Eagles are now 9-7 overall and 5-1 in the district.
