Oakley Fox, a senior at Seymour High School, will be heading to Cougar Field in the fall after signing with Cleveland State Community College.
"I'm very excited about it," said Fox. "My brother Drew was there for two years and he is graduating and coming back to go to school at UT. I will be mainly pitching for the team."
Fox's coach Scott Norman said, "We wish him luck. He will be an asset to the team. He's a great pitcher and he can hit the ball. I think they will use him as a position player as well. He's a super kid, a positive player and a hard worker."
Norman added that while Fox was off while injured he was a still at the field giving it all he had. "He'd come and run do what he could, he'd be a leader in the dugout."
Norman said he sees Fox as a projection pitcher, one that will continue to grow as an athlete and just get better over the next one to two years.
Cleveland State Baseball Head Coach Mike Policastro, now in his 16th year as coach, told the Herald, "We have been familiar with Oakley because of Drew and watched Oakley pitch and play over the last couple of years and feel he has a chance to come in and contribute to our program.
"He comes from a good program and works hard and he wants to be a good player. We look forward to him coming in and being a part of our program."
Cleveland State Baseball program began in 1968. The team has won numerous conference, division, state and region championships with the highlight being an appearance in the National Junior College World Series in 1980 - finishing runner-up. Cleveland State is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Tennessee Junior Community College Athletic Association.
