The Seymour Lady Eagles golf team recently defeated Sevier County and Karns in a three way golf match at Egwani Farms Golf Course in Alcoa.
The boys didn’t do quite as well, losing to South-Doyle and Karns but defeating Sevier County.
The scores were high on the difficult lay-out just off Alcoa Highway.
The weather was pleasant and wasn’t a factor.
The Lady Eagles won with a team score of 118 to Karn’s 124 and Sevier County’s 135.  These are very high scores due to the fact that there were some big number holes especially the ones with water hazards.
Seymour was led by senior Megan Gamble with a 55 followed by sophomore Kristyn Baldridge with a 63.
Medalist honors were shared by Seymour’s Megan Gamble and Sevier County’s Grace Huskey with a score of 55.
The boys’ scores weren’t much better.  As a team the Eagles shot a 184 while South-Doyle won with a 170, followed by Karns with a 174 and Sevier County with a 191.
Seymour was led by Justice Murphy with a 43, followed by Lance Gaylon with a 45, Michael Bennett with a 48 and Parker Rudder with a 48.
The boys’ medalist was South-Doyle’s Michael Mason with a 38 playing on his home course.
“I was pleased that the girls won, but I wasn’t pleased with the high scores,” said Seymour coach Gary Householder. ”Both the girls and the boys need to be more consistent.
“They need to get their scores lower before the district tournament at Clinch View if we expect to be competitive.
“Some of the water holes seemed to give us problems.”
