gardner wins late model feature at 411

Knoxville’s Scott Gardner bested runner-up Jimmy Hunt and third-place finisher Mike Price to win the Late Model feature event at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour Saturday night.

Gardner held off the 10-car field to take the checkered flag in Saturday’s most anticipated race at the legendary Seymour dirt track. Seymour’s Rusty Ballenger was the best hometown racer with an 11^th place finish. Frog Ingle and Ron Chase, both of Seymour, finished 14^th and 16^th, respectively, in Saturday’s Late Model feature race.

Tony Horton, of Sneedville, had the fastest car in winning the Modified Mini feature race. Curtis Thomas, of Knoxville, and Robbie Comer, of Lafollette, finished second and third, respectively, in the race. Three Sevierville-based drivers—Mike Lewelling, Justin McCarter and Brad Lewelling—finished sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Modified Mini race.

Lafollette driver Nick Nelson took top honors in the Street Stock feature. Jason Ogle, of Knoxville, and Wes Johnson, of Lenoir City, rounded out the top three in the Street Stock race.

Fan favorite Tiffany Sheehan, of Maryville, persevered down the stretch to win the truck race Saturday night. Sheehan’s #24 truck crossed the finish line first despite smoke swirling out of her hood and did not make it to Winner’s Circle for post-race photos because she was tending to her overheated truck.

Maryville’s Robert Martin and Powell’s Tim Conaway rounded out the top three in the truck feature. Maryville-based drivers held three of the top spots in the five-truck field. Sevierville’s Tom Huston and Kodak’s Freddie Hillard, who got a DNS, were officially the fourth and fifth finishers, respectively.

Veteran 411 driver Robbie Sands, of Powell, won the Classics feature. Bart Baxter, of Dandridge, and Tom Conaway, of Powell, finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the crowed 13-car field.

Brian Berkley, of Knoxville, picked up his first win in the Modified Mine feature. Chris Kelley and Bubby Braden rounded out the top three in the 13-car Modified Mini field.

Knoxville’s Mark Hittenger won the Front-Wheel Drive feature. Joe Freels, of Coalfield, and Scott Russell, of Knoxville, rounded out the top three in the race.

Seymour’s Robert Burris finished ninth in the Front-Wheel Drive feature.
