Rick Hadwick is asking for the community’s help with accommodations for three coaches who will be in town  to help Hadwick run an AYSO camp in Seymour from July 14-through-18.

Hadwick says he needs at least two families to host three of the camp instructors for the week. Hadwick explains that any family that agrees to host one of the camp’s coaches would in turn receive a scholarship for a young soccer player to go to the prestigious and comprehensive camp for free.

Hadwick says this year’s camp will be the first of its kind in Seymour but he’s hoping this year’s week-long soccer workshop will be the first of many to come.

“With regard to the camp itself, we try to provide a fun environment where the kids can enjoy learning about the game,” Hadwick stated. “(Campers will learn) not just the skills and moves in soccer but also they will learn what the game is all about. This will be the first AYSO camp in Seymour and we are hoping to run many more.”

Hadwick went on to say that campers of all ages will be able to refine their skills at the camp.

“This year we are also running an ATC (advanced training camp) where players 12-years old and over can experience something similar to what young players are taught at professional academies in the UK.”

Hadwick went on to say that finding host families for his coaches is the biggest obstacle at this point.

“We need to find at least two families for a total of three coaches,” said Hadwick. “Obviously, we’re needing one family to host two coaches if possible. That helps us to keep a couple (coaches) together during the week.”

Hadwick says of all the areas in his AYSO region, which spans Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana and Tennessee, the Knoxville-area is one of the best for player-participation and interest.

“(The Knoxville area ) has certainly been the most successful for AYSO in terms of camps and training programs,” said Hadwick. “Next year I’m hoping to run a residential academy at a university in or close to Knoxville where AYSO players can eat, sleep and breathe soccer for a week.”

Those interested in being a host-family or learning more about the AYSO soccer camp scheduled for Seymour from July 14-through-July 18 can contact Hadwick by phone at (513)-307-5773 or fax at (480)-460-0637. Hadwick’s email address is r.hadwick@aysosoccercamps.org.
