The June 20th deadline is quickly approaching for the seven open event competitions at this year's Tennessee Senior Olympics state finals.
Tennessee seniors can register to compete in archery, racquetball, cycling (5K/20K), the 5K and 10K runs, tennis, or a one-mile power walk. Registration for these events is open to seniors who did not participate or qualify in the district games.
The Tennessee Senior Olympics state finals will be held July 20-26 in Williamson County. Events are open to seniors 50 and older; however, participants who are 49 years old are eligible to compete as long as their 50th birthday occurs before the end of 2007.
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, presenting sponsor and long-time supporter of the Tennessee Senior Olympics, helped established the games in 1981.
"This year's Tennessee Senior Olympics finals competition is expected to attract more than 1,500 Tennessee seniors to Williamson County," said Christine Dewbre, executive director of the Tennessee Senior Olympics. "Open registration is a great opportunity for these seniors to showcase their athletic abilities among their peers."
The deadline for open event registration is June 20th. To obtain an entry form, download a copy from www.tnseniorolympics.com, contact the state office at (615) 902-9261, or email tnseniorolympics@comcast.net. Additional Senior Olympics information can be found at www.tnseniorolympics.com.
