more fireworks expected at 411

competition heating up in more than one division at legendary seymour drag strip

Fans are expected to line the fences once again this coming weekend at 411 Dragway to take in another resounding show of speed put out by the fiercely competitive drivers pushing their machines to limit in an effort to be the first to cross the finish line at the other end of the legendary ¼ mile strip.

After an usual weekend of zero wins last week, Foot Brake and Trophy Division point leader Bill Burns is expected to be back in top form after leaving the track early last week to take care of other issues.

Tellico Plains native Mike Grant, who turned heads last week by finishing in the top five in both the Trophy and Foot Brake Division races, could be one of the 411 starts of the future in his souped up 1885 Chevy S-10. Observers will be anxious to see if Grant could capture the same kind of success two weeks in a row at the track.

Paul Carney, of Knoxivlle, and Ousby Brewington, of Knoxville, were winners last week, respectively, in the Trophy and Foot Brake Divisions. Johnny Burns of Sevierville had a nice run a week ago but he’ll try to improve this week on his second place finish in the Foot Brake Division.

Burns, piloting his 1973 Maverick, will attempt to overtake Brewington for first place in the ever-competitive Foot Brake Division.
