It has been a slow week for fishing on Fort Loudon.

The water temperature is starting out in the mid 70’s and warming up to around 80 degrees into the afternoon depending on the location.

Deep points along the main channel seem to be the best place to find fish but they have been fairly deep. Anglers have reported catching some decent size keeper fish on deep running crank baits at these locations.

Fishermen should also try Carolina or Texas rigged worms and lizards.

The best time of day to fish this week is around sunrise, sunset and after dark. These are the times when the bass are the most active and feeding consistently.

Anglers who are fishing around sunrise and sunset should try top water baits such as a Zara Spook or buzz bait. These are the times of day when bass generally feed on the surface.

Trinity Trail will be hosting a tournament on Saturday July 14th at the Concord Park boat ramp on Fort Loudon. The tournament will run from 5 a.m. until noon and the cost for entry is $50 dollars per boat. Anyone is welcome to come out and participate.
