The University of Tennessee announced Thursday that the orange seats in Thompson-Boling Arena are available for fans to purchase. As part of the renovations to Thompson-Boling Arena, all seats in the facility will be replaced. With this change, the University of Tennessee athletic department is offering its fans a chance to own a piece of Volunteer and Lady Vols basketball history. “Fans have cheered our teams on to many victories in the now famous orange seats of Thompson-Boling Arena. Now fans can enjoy the seats and still cheer on the Lady Vols or Vols from their home or office,” said Joan Cronan, women’s athletic director. When the arena closes for renovations in early March, the seats will be removed and cleaned, but sold in “as is” condition. They will feature a commemorative plaque reflecting the seats years of service to the University of Tennessee. The seats will be available for delivery or pick-up in early June. The seats will offer four purchasing options. A single seat will be $126, double seat $155, quad seat $247 and a bar stool will be $186. Proceeds from all seat purchases will go towards the Campaign for Tennessee Basketball. “This is a great opportunity for our fans to own a piece of Thompson-Boling Arena history and support the Campaign for Tennessee basketball at the same time,” said Mike Hamilton, men’s athletic director.
