STACI REYES MEMORIAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
SET FOR JUNE 15-17
Proceeds from sports event to benefit Children's Hospital
Girls ages 16 and under will have an opportunity to participate in an exciting fast-pitch softball tournament this summer and help children being treated for cancer and other serious blood disorders at East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
The Staci Reyes Memorial Softball Tournament will take place June 15-17 at the Sports Park on Oak Ridge Highway. Proceeds from this memorial tournament benefit the Children's Hospital Hematology/ Oncology Clinic, where Staci Reyes was a patient. After the 14 year-old passed away on New Year's Day 2006, her family and friends wanted to do something to help other children dealing with cancer with an activity that Staci had loved.
"We greatly appreciate the efforts of Children's Hospital in serving East Tennessee's children. We truly believe that she received top-notch care while there. Although we lost Staci, we hope our continued support of the hospital will help more children overcome these life-threatening illnesses," said Doug Wood, tournament chair and Reyes' family friend.
This tournament is an ASA (Amateur Softball Association) State Qualifier Tournament. Registration cost per team to participate in the Staci Reyes Softball Tournament is $200. For more information on the event, call Doug Wood at (865) 984-4833, or the Children's Hospital Development Office at (865) 541-8441.
