Middle School Eagles back to winning ways

With 30-12 win over Northview, Seymour Middle now has consecutive wins From staff reports news@theheraldnewspapers.com The pieces are starting to fall back into place for the Seymour Eagles Middle School football team. After struggling a bit to begin the season the Eagles are back to their winning ways. A week after knocking off Jefferson Middle out of Oak Ridge, head coach Chad Pfeffinger’s Eagles blasted county foe Northview last Thursday 30-12. Spearheaded by a relentless defensive effort, the Eagles were able to hold onto an early lead and cruise to a comfortable win. Seymour created four Northview turnovers in the game, as the Eagles got interceptions from Cory Clark, Taylor Overton and Bradley Lewelling. Seymour’s Bradley Marchal recovered a fumble and recorded a sack, and the ever-disruptive Jeremy Hurst recorded a pair of quarterback sacks. Corbin Marine started the scoring for the Eagles, hauling in a 35-yard pass from quarterback Dustin Fair in the first quarter. Fair also hit Tyler Owens later in the opening quarter on a 40-yard touchdown pass. Fair called his own number and ran in a two-point conversion following the Owens’ touchdown catch. Seymour’s Lee Knight got the Eagles’ ground game going with a 20-yard fourth quarter touchdown burst. The Eagles were also the benefactors of a Northview miscue when the Northview quarterback fell in the end zone on an errant snap from center. The Eagles face another county rival Thursday night when they host the Pigeon Forge Middle School Tigers Thursday night.
