Middle School Eagles bounce back

Bouncing back after a humbling loss to Webb, the Seymour Eagles answered the bell last week with an impressive 22-0 blanking of Jefferson Middle School from Oak Ridge in middle school football action.
The Eagles’ defense was smothering, holding the athletic Jefferson offense in check from start to finish. Seymour’s Jeremy Hurst thwarted one Jefferson scoring opportunity by pouncing on a loose ball in the second quarter to claim Jefferson’s only turnovers.
Eagles’ running back Knight was his team’s top offensive weapon, rushing for touchdown runs of 40 yards and 15 yards.
Logan Sims raced in on a 30-yard touchdown run as well, helping the Eagles take control and hold on for their initial win of 2006. Sims also scored on a pair of two-point conversion runs.
Seymour will play county-rival North View.
