During another exciting week at Pigeon Forge High School, the annual club fair brought in excited students from all ends of the spectrum. With such a variety of clubs to choose from, finding one to match your personality was only a few steps away. From an Outdoor Club to help students come face to face with their adventurous sides to a Political Awareness Club for those endless, heated debates we all either love or hate and everything in between, students at PFHS, the old faces and the new, have plenty of opportunities to plug in to the exciting extracurricular world.
In Sports NewsThe Pigeon Forge football team met their arch rivals under the Friday night lights last week. With their black and orange blood pumping, the Tigers fought hard but ultimately lost to the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders by a score of 45-12. Despite the outcome, the mood on campus leading up the game was pulsing with enthusiasm and everyone looked forward to this heated match up that only comes around once a year.
The Lady Tigers Soccer team took it to the road last week facing a hard-working Chuckey Doak team on Thursday. Two goals from the Lady Tigers brought the first half to a close, and a single goal scored in the second half sealed the deal for the Lady Tigers who fought hard and held off Chuckey Doak in a fierce but decisive battle.
The Lady Tigers Golf team won first place in the McNelly-Whaley county-wide tournament for the second year running. Katie Doane finished first overall, followed by Brittany McCown in second place and Jerica King in fifth.
With scores of 25-6, 25-18, 22-25, and 25-12, the Lady Tigers Volleyball team defeated Union County on Tuesday.
In School NewsThe registration deadline for the October 28 ACT at PFHS is September 22, and the deadline for registering for the November 4 SAT is September 29. Students may pick up registration materials in the Guidance Office.
Registration information for the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (10/18) and the PACT (10/25) has been distributed to students. The combined cost for both tests is $25 and the payment must be received by Friday, September 29. For more information contact the Guidance Office.
Family and friends of SENIORS will not want to miss the opportunity to express congratulations, love, best wishes, and pride to their graduate in the form of a “Public Display of Affection” ad in the school yearbook. Plus, there is no better opportunity to pull out those adorable baby pictures for everyone to see! Every senior PDA purchased will appear in full color in the 2007 yearbook and will be specially created with your graduate in mind. Prices range from $75-250. For more information about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, contact the PFHS Yearbook Staff at 429-0960. The deadline to make full payment and submit photographs and personal messages is Tuesday, October 31.
George Silvey and Seth Dunaway from Jostens will be available on Thursday, September 14 in the cafeteria from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. to assist seniors in placing orders for senior items. A minimum of a $60 deposit must be paid to place an order, and all orders for graduating Seniors must be placed by October 2. Jostens will also be available during this time to assist juniors in ordering class rings. A deposit of $50 is required to order a ring. Lifetouch will be at school Wednesday, September 20 for Fall/Yearbook Pictures. All students in grades 9-11, administration, faculty, and staff will be photographed that day. If you wish to receive a package of pictures from this photo sitting, payment must be made in advance. If you miss picture day, make-up pictures will be taken Wednesday, October 25. This year Pigeon Forge Middle and High Schools will both select a “Tiger Idol.” Each school will host individual auditions for talented students, and the top acts will be chosen for the finals in which students will vote for their favorite acts. Auditions for Pigeon Forge High School students will be on Monday, September 25 at 3:15 p.m. in the auditorium. The final Tiger Idol event, in which the top 10 acts from each school will perform, will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the PFHS auditorium.
Future Farmers of America (FFA) will be making apple butter the old-fashioned way all day on Saturday, September 23 at the Old Mill during Heritage Days. Come by and visit Ms. Judy Peason and her crew.
Don’t miss out on the Memories… order a yearbook on Friday, September 29 during the lunch periods. The price will be $55 if ordered on this day; prices will increase as the year progresses. For an additional charge, personalization, icons, plastic covers, and extra autograph pages will be available. Please make checks and money orders payable to Pigeon Forge High School.
