Seymour volleyball gets big effort from Wilson in dramatic win over Clinton last week

Head coach Ed Irvin has guided the Seymour Lady Eagles to a 10-2 mark after the squad rounded out its pre-district portion of its schedule.
Both of the Lady Eagles setbacks after the first 12 games have came at the hands of state powerhouse Farragut.
The athletic Seymour squad jumped out to a 15-12 lead over the Lady Admirals in a match-up last week at Seymour but a series of passing and serving miscues allowed the advantageous Lady Admirals to claim the lead and hold on for a 25-18 win.
Farragut then fed off the late rally in game-one of last week’s meeting to pull away in the second game of the night between the two schools and take a 25-15 victory.
After being downed by the Lady Admirals last week on their home court, the Lady Eagles had to gather themselves to face a resurgent Clinton Lady Dragon club during the three-team meet last week.
The Seymour-Clinton match-up turned out to be a nail-biter that will not soon be forgotten by either team, particularly the Lady Eagles and their resilient strong-side spiker Jennifer Wilson.
Leading 20-11 in the first game against the Lady Dragons, a team that has long been overshadowed by county neighbor Anderson County until a resent resurgence of the Clinton program, the Lady Eagles were dealt a blow when Wilson was forced to exit the game with an apparent knee injury.
The Lady Dragons capitalized on the imposing Wilson’s presence by streaking back to take the lead and hold on for a 26-24 comeback win.
With her team struggling to cling to a 18-16 lead during the crucial second game of the match, Wilson made her return to the lineup and helped thwart another Lady Dragon rally, helping the Lady Eagles to hold on for the 27-25 win.
Fueled by the return of Wilson, the Lady Eagles fed off the momentum garnered in game-two to race to a 25-18 win in the deciding third game of the match.
