The surprising Lady Lions of The King’s Academy just keep piling up wins.
The ladies soccer team is being coached for the first time by successful TKA boys coach Paul Mobley and has swept its first three games of the season.
The Lady Lions rolled over the Austin-East Lady Roadrunners 6-3 this week and defeated Heritage 3-2 on Tuesday.
Against the Lady Roadrunners, Megan Plante and Ashlie Reagan scored first half goals for the Lady Lions but A-E was able to forge ahead 3-2 at the intermission.
The Lady Lions tightened their defense in the second half and picked up scores by Kylie Barker, Reagan and Plante to take the 6-3 lead and win going away.
Reagan was responsible for the first-half assist to Plante on the Lady Lions’ first goal of the contest. Reagan passed to Barker for her second assist, setting up the first goal of the second half. Molly Pittman dished a pass to Reagan for an assist on the Lady Lions’ second goal of the second half.
After a slow start, Emma Sainsbury had a perfect second half for The King’s Academy in goal, not allowing an Austin-East score after halftime.
The Lady Lions knocked off the Lady Mountaineers despite Heritage taking 29 shots at goal compared to just 15 for The King’s Academy in a contest on Tuesday evening.
Heritage took an early lead but the Lady Lions came storming back with a first-half goal by Plante and then back-to-back first half scores by Reagan. Barker made the pass for the assist on Reagan’s first goal of the game.
