FISH TALK

Fishing is fair this week on Douglas news@theheraldnewspapers.com Fishing has been fair on Douglas this week, but anglers seem to be having the best luck catching fish along points. With the water temperature in the morning a cool 63 degrees, fishermen are catching fish early with lizards on Carolina rigs in 5 to 10 feet of water. Some smaller fish are also being caught around shallow tree and brush tops with top water plugs early in the morning, but bigger fish are being caught around points. With the afternoon water temperature rising to around 66 degrees, larger bass in the 2 to 4 pound range are hitting 4 to 6 inch pumpkin and chartreuse worms along with lizards on Texas rigs. Black and blue jigs are working very well in the back of some coves at a depth of 6 to 8 feet later on in the afternoon. Anglers are also catching some decent size fish on white/chartreuse blades with a chartreuse trailer. The recent warming trend should really help out fishing on Douglas. As the water temperature rises, the fishing should start to improve in a hurry. The report for next week will once again be on Douglas.
