Lady Eagles’ season has wet ending

published: May 15 2006 12:00 AM updated:: May 15 2006 12:00 AM
Unceremoniously, the Seymour Lady Eagles’ encouraging district tournament run came to an end Thursday evening after a pair of wet losses in the District 3-AA Tournament at Gibbs High School. Seymour came out flat against tourney-host Gibbs and lost 14-1 in the first game, which was interrupted by a half hour rain delay. The Lady Eagles then saw their season come to a close with an elimination-game loss to Alcoa in their second game of the evening. The Lady Eagles had played their way into the winner’s bracket of the tourney after an upset win over the Lady Tornadoes in the second round. Third-seeded Seymour first defeated sixth-seeded Austin-East in the first round of the event.
