Kinser earns all-league honors in baseball
Adam Rosen, a junior from Goodlettesville, Tennessee, has been named to the 2006 All-Great South Baseball team.
The Beech High School graduate earned his third consecutive All-Conference selection after a stellar season at Maryville College.Rosen, who worked at shortstop, third-base, second-base, and on the mound, recorded his best offensive season with 61 hits and 11 doubles en-route to a team leading .415 batting average. Adam’s 61 annual hits rank him second behind John Roszell’s 1995 season of 64.On the hill, Rosen posted a 2-3 record with a 3.07 ERA in 44 innings of work.During his three-year career at Maryville, Adam has posted 146 hits and a .370 career average.
Kinsler named All-Great South in Baseball
Ryan Kinsler, a sophomore from Whitesburg, Tennessee, has been named to the 2006 All-Great South Baseball team. The Morristown-East High School graduate earned his first All-Conference selection after a stellar season at Maryville College.Kinsler, who worked at second-base for the Scots, recorded his best offensive season with 39 hits, .513 on base percentage, and 12 stolen bases to a team leading .415 batting average. Ryan led the team in stolen bases and walks while fielding at a .936 clip.Ryan also earned special mention as an All-GSAC Academic Team member with a grade point average that exceeds 3.25.During his two-year career at Maryville, Ryan has posted 50 hits in 131 at-bats for a .381 career average.
Hite earns
All-Great South honor
Eric Hite, a sophomore from Jonesboro, Tennessee, has been named to the 2006 All-Great South Baseball team. The David Crockett High School graduate earned his first All-Conference selection after a stellar season at Maryville College.Hite, who worked behind the plate for the Scots, recorded his best offensive season with 26 hits and 2 homeruns en-route to a .310 batting average. Eric led a young pitching staff while catching 32 of the Scots 41 games this season.During his two-year career at Maryville, Eric has posted 29 hits in 101 at-bats for a .287 career average.
Peters,
Johnson earn
All-Freshman recognition
Freshmen Ben Peters and Matt Johnson were named 2006 Great South Athletic Conference All-Freshmen Baseball Team members following their stellar inaugural seasons.Peters, a first baseman from Oak Ridge, Tennessee played in 39 of the Scots 41 games. He hit .325 on the season while setting new single-season school records for doubles (16) and RBI (45). He was also consistent around the bag fielding at a .977 clip.Johnson, a right-handed pitcher from Maryville’s Heritage High School, was 2-4 on the season with a 3.66 ERA. He led the team with 28 strikeouts and held the opponents to a .271 batting average in 51 innings of work for the Fighting Scots.
