Lions rebound big over Cumberland Gap

The King’s Academy follows first loss of
season with resounding win

A couple days after suffering thier initial loss of the season, The King’s Academy Lions (9-1-2) overwelmed Cumberland Gap 7-1 last week.
The Lions came out on the losing end for the first time in 2006 last week against county rival Seymour, but rebounded in resounding fashion to blast the Panthers with five first-half goals, outshooting Cumberland Gap for the game with 44 shots at goal compared to just eight for the Panthers.
After taking a commanding 5-1 advantage into the haltime break, The King’s Academy held firm during the second half and added a pair of scores to take the 7-1 victory.
Six different Lions registered in the scoring column against the Panthers, led by Grant Beeler with two goals in the contest.
Se Hun Park, Brian Shin, Ncholas Giles, Gareth Rowlands and Matt King each tallied one score againt the Panthers.
Ben Blodgett manned the goal for the Lions, allowing just the one goal while accumulating seven saves.
Rowlands and David Inyang each had a pair of assists in the game, and Shin was credited with one assist.
Inyang finished the game with a team-high 10 shot attempts, while Rowlands and Park each had nine attempts at goal. Of Beeler’s three attempts at goal, only one did not result in a Lions’ score.
