The Seymour Lady Eagles, coached by Cotton Junian, Jim Moore and Charlie Householder, ran away with the North Region Track and Field Championship last week at Sullivan North. Seymour’s 112 points was good enough for the team championship. Stephanie Moore won the Outstanding Female Athlete prize at the event after winning the 3200 run, the 800, and finishing second in the 1600. Also having big days at the region event for the Lady Eagles were Morgan Peterson, Erin Inman, Kelli Napier, Morgan Webber, Amber Strable, Megan Mize, Amanda Berume and Megan Peterson. Several of the Lady Eagles will advance to compete on May 11 at the East Sectional event in Chattanooga. The Eagles also had a big day at the regional event. The Seymour boys’ track and field results, along with the results from other county squads, will be featured in the weekend edition of The Smoky Mountain Herald.
