Senior Olympic events being held

More than 200 senior athletes from all over East Tennessee will converge on Gatlinburg in the coming days to compete in the East Tennessee District Senior Olymics. The events officially opened on April 21 at various locations around Gatlinburg. The event is an annual Olympic-style athletic competition for seniors ages 50 and over of all skill levels. Senior from across the state are set to participate in the district games during the months of April and May. Winners from these games qualify to compete in the state finals competition set for July 14-20 in Williamson County, Tennessee. The organizors of the event plan on participants from the counties of Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier and Union assembling in Gatlinburg for the competitions. The events will be held at various locations around the region.
