Gifted former Tigers star has huge decision to make this week Pigeon Forge senior shortstop/pitcher Tyler Cannon is expected to hear his name called during Tuesday’s Major League Baseball Draft. Cannon has already signed a college scholarship to play baseball at the University of Virginia but is expected to opt to go the professional route immediately if he were to be selected early by the Atlanta Braves. His father, former Pigeon Forge High School baseball coach Larry Cannon, confirmed last week that his son would choose to attend Virginia if he is not selected by the Braves, his favorite Major League team since childhood. Larry Cannon announced his resignation from Pigeon Forge High School last week after purchasing a 140-acre farm near Bristol Virginia. Larry Cannon said his resignation has nothing to do with his talented son’s upcoming decision.
