Boys and Girls claim top finishes

In a three way meet with Pigeon Forge and host Gatlingburg-Pittman, SHS girls and boys scored first place team points. The girls ran their way to five first place finishes on the track and dominated the field events on their way to a 76 points, G.P. finished second with 56 and Pigeon Forge mustered 29. Katie Clark won the two-mile while Jessica Elliott, Rachel Stooksbury and Jessie Peterson finished 1-2-3 in the 110 hurdles. Shelly Hosler, Stacy Stooksbury and Amanda Lesher went 2-3-4 in the mile run and Jacqueline Dutton took first in the 400 before taking a second in the 200 followed in third by Mandi Wells. Katie Clark finished second in the 800 before the Lady Eagles showcased their work in the relays taking first in the 1600 and 3200 and taking seconds in 800 and 400 relays. The Lady Eagles proved just as dominant on the field as Gina Owenby finished second in the shot while Danielle Wolf took the discus. Peterson led the soaring, taking first in the high, long and triple jumps but getting plenty of support as Stooksbury scored with a fourth in the long and a third in the triple jump. The boys narrow margin made for their second victory in a row. The Serafines led the way in the field events. Anthony took second in the long jump and first in the triple, while Michael took a fourth in the triple jump. Scott Thomas grabbed SHS first place points in the discus and Justin Johnson heaved a second in the shot. B.J. Everett and Jimmy Odham finished first and third in the 110 hurdles to spark the Eagles on the track. The relay teams sprinted to first in the 1600 and 400 while taking second in the half and two mile relays. Aaron Lee, Chris Smith and William Kincaid crossed 2-3-4 in the 100 to score multiple points in the event. The Eagles host several Blount County teams on Tuesday.
