The King’s Academy Lions took the long road trip to Memphis over the weekend and suffered a 42-16 Division 2-A loss to the First Assembly Christian School.
The Lions didn’t register on the score board until Matt King reached pay dirt on an eight-yard run in the third quarter. Matt Rose then found Zach Fine for the two-point conversion.
Fine returned a punt for a 68-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The special teams play was The King’s Academy’s longest scoring play of the young season. Jesse Denton took a handoff and scored on a successful two-point conversion.
The Lions’ offense was led by King who had 17-carries for 57-yards and the touchdown. Denton had six-carries for 37-yards.
The Lions were led on defense by Cliff Beeler who had 11 tackles (eight-solo, three-assist) and Jehu Hill with eight tackles (six-solo, two-assist).
The Lions are now 1-1 on the year and 0-1 in Division 2-A. FAC improved to 3-0 and 2-0 in the division.
