Walker looks forward to the chance to play college baseball

The King’s Academy graduate Brian Walker recently signed scholarship papers with Bryan College to play baseball for the school. Walker had a stellar senior season at The King’s Academy and helped lead the Lions to a 13-7 overall record in2002. He had a batting average of .582 with two home runs and eight RBI. Walker displayed nice speed this season, reaching base on five doubles and a team leading three triples. Walker’s athletic ability was just part of the reason that Bryan College Baseball Coach Preston Douglas is excited about having him at the school. “I believe that he will be in the starting line-up,” said Douglas. “He’ll probably start in one of the outfield positions but I’m confident he’ll do a great job wherever he plays. Brian has the physical skills, heart, determination and work ethic to become successful at the college level. To play at the next level beyond college, only God. Brian, and time can determine that. Walker, who was The King’s Academy Most Valuable Player in baseball and football last season, has big plans for his college career. Those plans include having his sights set on reaching the highest level of collegiate baseball. “I know it is a big dream but I want to play in the College World Series,” said Walker. “I figure that if I have a coach like Coach Douglas, who has been there, he will push us to be the best that we can and hopefully that will push us to the World Series.” Although Walker is already making lofty goals for himself while in college, he looks back with nothing less than appreciation on his days at The King’s Academy. “King’s Academy is a place where I grew more than I ever dreamed of,” Walker added. “Not only did I grow mentally and physically, but more spiritually than anything. King’s helps all of its students to grow in every aspect possible.”
