c.r.o.s.s. draws large crowds

published: March 02 2010 03:01 PM updated:: January 04 2011 04:18 PM     C.R.O.S.S. (Christians Reaching Out Serving Seymour) held a very successful Volunteer Training on Feb. 27.
Nearly 50 Seymour residents attended the training to develop continuity and consistency in the day-to-day operations at C.R.O.S.S. through their volunteer efforts.
C.R.O.S.S. is Seymour’s local food ministry serving the Seymour community for over twenty-three years by meeting the needs of those less fortunate.
It is a non-profit corporation established by local churches in the Seymour area and is operated solely by volunteers who serve every aspect of the operations.
New C.R.O.S.S. President Dottie Sollman was very pleased with the large turn out for the two hour training and credits the exposure the Herald gave to the event for the standing-room-only crowd.
Volunteers’ procedures, goals and shifts were discussed during the session, along with some of the problems C.R.O.S.S. faces with the downturn in the economy.
C.R.O.S.S. serves the needs of the community by providing help with food boxes, finding alternate resources and when funds are available, C.R.O.S.S. also helps with fuel, utilities, emergency auto repair, and limited medications.
