KNOXVILLE - Candace Parker and her husband, Shelden Williams, a former Duke star and currently playing for the Sacramento Kings, announced they are expecting a child this spring.
Parker is currently playing for the Los Angles Sparks after coming out of Tennessee after her junior year.
Parker, 22, led the Lady Vols to NCAA National Championships in 2007 and 2008. Parker also was 2006 Freshman of the year, 2007 SEC Player of the year, and 2008 College Player of the Year.
The Lady Vols had a record of 101-10 while Parker was there.
Parker left Tennessee after the 2008 National Championship and was the first player taken in the WNBA draft.
She became the only women to ever win WNBA Rookie of the Year and WNBA Most Valuable Player in the same year. Parker also received AP Athlete of the Year.
For now, Parker is going to continue working out with the Sparks and plans on playing this year.
The child is due in May.
