During the first week of September, Sevier County drivers were paying an average of $3.58 a gallon.
The cost of gas has effected so many areas of the local market that businesses, including voluntary organizations have had to make changes.
The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department was featured on a recent local TV program discussing the cost of fuel the volunteer firefighters have to pay for out of their own pocket to fight a fire or aid at an accident.
Many feel that the recent rapid jump in the price of gas was uncalled for.
