By Glenn K Turner UT Extension Agent published: February 15 2008 07:13 AM updated:: February 19 2008 02:00 PM Hey Teens!  Are you looking for an exciting cultural experience this summer?  This years Citizenship Washington Focus Trip just might be the right thing for you.  Citizenship Washington Focus or CWF, is a week long exploration into government.  In the greatest place to learn about government . . . . . .Washington, D.C.!  High school 4-H members get the opportunity to discuss and debate issues that are relative to young people.  They also get an in depth look at how bills are formed and passed into law and get to visit their national lawmakers.

While in Washington, they get to see the sights!  The Capital, the White House, the National Cathedral, the Smithsonian and all the memorials including the new World War II Memorial.

It’s also a cultural experience as you visit the theater.  In 2007, the CWF delegation attended a play at the Kennedy Center.  You also have the opportunity to meet other young people from all across the United States.

The dates for CWF are June 7 -14, 2008.  Forty-five spaces are available for the Tennessee delegation and will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis.  CWF is open to all 9th - 12th grade students.  Cost for the nine day trip is $900.00.  Fees cover program cost, food and lodging at the National 4-H Center, en-route lodging, play tickets for an evening at the theater and insurance.  A $300.00 deposit can reserve your spot by March 14.  Cost can be payed in three installments as follows: #1 - $300.00 deposit by March 14; #2 - $300.00 by April 1; and #3 $300.00 final payment by May 1.
