A Sevier County Jail Kitchen Supervisor has resigned from his position after a federal lawsuit accused him of sexually abusing inmates.
In a recent federal court suit, a former inmate claims he was raped in the Sevier County Jail by kitchen supervisor Paul Lintner, 66.
The inmate alleges Lintner hand picked trustees, touched them inappropriately and made un-wanted sexual advances, while ensuring them special treatment.
The inmate is suing the county, the sheriff, and two sheriff's deputies.
Lintner has been working in the jail since 1998. He wasn't an officer, but he directed the trustees who worked in the kitchen.
The plaintiff is seeking $15 million from the sheriff's department, including $10 million in punitive damages.
Lintner is a convicted felon. According to Seals Lintner served time in the Sevier County Jail on theft charges. Bruce Montgomery, the late sheriff, hired Lintner onto the kitchen staff after completing his sentence nine years ago.
