According to the calendar, this is Fall. But it certainly doesn't feel like fall. It's 82 degrees outside.
How can this be Fall?
I am full of questions today. Actually everyday. It's a necessary part of my profession.
Everything isn't always what it's suppose to be.
Take for example the legal system.
Once the trial has taken place, it still may not over.
The judge could over-rule the jury. Or one of the parties could appeal the decision.
Truth is, justice is blind, but somehow, it can read and write very well.
There are so many laws on top of laws that at the appellate level it takes a group of educated and experienced judges to verify that justice was properly and judiciously executed.
Many believe that we should go back to basics.
If you're guilty, you pay the price.
Why should an admitted guilty individual get away with a crime due to a simple technicality?
Why does it appear that the victim of a crime has fewer rights than the criminal?
After a conviction and a death sentence, why is the sentence delayed for 30 years?
A community with well over 20,000 population would be a nice sized city. So why is Seymour not incorporated?
Why is Kim Pierce running for Sheriff as a Republican, Democrat and an Independent all at the same time in the up-coming election?
Is that the sign of indecisiveness, dyslexia or multiply personality?
Why has something not been done about the school traffic?
How can the county ethics committee conduct themselves impartially when there is an obvious conflict of interest which in itself is unethical?
Why can't the four Seymour commissioners get together and bring some pork to Seymour.
Many have said the commissioners should be upset with themselves for being so ineffective for the Seymour Community.
The real question is - What have they done for Seymour?
People want to know what can any of them say that they have accomplished for Seymour that they are proud of?
I'm sure there is something, but unless it's election time, it seems the commissioners are missing in action.
They certainly don't hold local meetings.
I have yet to receive a press release from any of them.
It appears they are elected, go collect their monthly $500 plus dollars, insurance and additional funds for attending meetings and you don't really hear from them again until it's time for re-election.
Is that fair?
Is that what they're elected to do?
The public they represent should demand more.
Everything isn't always what it appears to be.
Maybe our commissioners misrepresented themselves.
Maybe everything I said here is wrong.
Do you think Seymour is better off today then two, four or six years ago?
There is more congestion on the roads, in the schools and in the courts.
You be the judge.
