On Monday afternoon at approximately 4:00 PM a VW Jetta pulled out from Old Sevierville Pike onto Boyds Creek Highway directly in front of a Ronnie Proffitt of Knoxville, driving a large truck.
"I'm a little shook up but happy that no one was really hurt," Proffitt told the Seymour Herald.
"I thought I killed whoever was in the car, then I saw this guy over there by the VW and found out it was him. He came up and told me ‘that's my fault, praise god, it's my fault I'm really blessed,' so I just hugged him," Proffitt said.
Bill Hodges from Knoxville was the driver of the VW.
"I'm really blessed and thankfully," Hodges told the Seymour Herald. Hodges of received some bandages on his arm at the scene.
Tennessee State Highway Patrol Bill Fox happened to drive up on the accident and was able to assist in directing traffic.
