If you have read the front page story you know the event was the Kick-Off for the formation of a Seymour Boys and Girls Club.
Can you image that.
Seymour is finally getting a Boys and Girls Club.
It's about time. It's all about timing.
Seymour is the largest community in the county and yet has the least amount of public services.
I applaud Mark Ross and his staff, Rob Ailey, Dr. Bill Fry, Senator Finney and Representative Montgomery and Jim and Judy Arwood for making this commitment to this community.
What they are unselfishly doing is not for them selves. It's for the future of our community and a major investment in our children.
Getting the club going is Seymour is a large step. Mark, a resident of Cherokee Hill, saw the need daily, for a local Boys and Girls Club. It took the culmination of certain events to bring the key people together to make it a reality.
But first, it was a dream.
We need to start dreaming of other great things that can happen in and for Seymour.
Why do you think all the new businesses are coming to Seymour. They see something good.
People that were born and raised here as well as those that have moved here also see something good.
But rather than taking much from Seymour, it's time to give back.
Give back by donating your time, money, energy and other abilities to make Seymour the best place to live, work and play.
Don't you want to be proud of where you live?
I urge each resident to do one thing next week that is in some way benefiting the Seymour Community.
Can you imagine that? About 28,000 people doing one thing this week to benefit Seymour in a positive way.
I can.
And I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is.
Let us know what you or someone you know did during the week of the 15th thru the 21st of July.
Send us a story about it and all the details and a phone number, with or without pictures, or video and the one that is picked to be the most unselfish and beneficial act to the community will be awarded a $100 from The Seymour Herald.
Maybe some of the other local businesses will also contribute to this worthy cause.
To qualify, send your story, pictures, video, details to Scenic Seymour %The Seymour Herald, PO Box 1228, Seymour Tn 37865 or email to editor@seymourherald.com or to Seymour Herald, 500 Maryville Hwy, Seymour Tn 37865 by July 25, 2005.
