Montgomery was one of 62 legislators whose winning ways brought in $9,900 in donations to charities throughout the state. Legislators competed to win donations which were made in their names to the charities of their choice. Among those charities receiving donations this year were St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center, Exchange Clubs and the Alzheimer’s Association. Local senior centers, libraries, zoos, schools, churches and other organizations were also chosen for donations.
Each year, the charity giveaway is a highlight of THCA’s Legislative Conference, an event that brings long-term care professionals together with state lawmakers to discuss what it takes to provide quality services for the state’s elderly and disabled.
“Nursing homes are important parts of their communities,” THCA Executive Director Ron Taylor said. “In addition to providing quality care to the frail and elderly, they also employ many people and give back to the community in other ways. Every year, our members look forward to partnering with their legislators to raise money for worthy causes throughout the state.”
Nursing homes provide The Right Care at the Right Time for patients in need of 24-hour nursing care due to illness or disability. The Tennessee Health Care Association is a nonprofit association representing long-term care facilities throughout the state.
