The Seymour Herald is proud to welcome its new managing editor, David Grimes. David has been with the Seymour Herald since 2002, and has served the paper in a multitude of capacities, including as copy editor, reporter, photographer, design and layout, and graphic artist. “I’m honored to be chosen for this position,” David said. “The confidence and trust that Joe and Michele Karl have placed in me by offering the post is both gratifying and humbling.” David was born in Chattanooga, TN, and grew up in Rossville, GA, just over the TN-GA state line. He’s been involved with books and reading since he can remember. “My parents took special care to introduce me to the magic of the printed word,” David told The Herald, “And from a very early age, I’ve been reading pretty much everything I could get my hands on, especially science books.” After completing his schooling David worked at various jobs in the private sector, including successfully managing small businesses and starting his own freelance graphic arts company, Levity Ball Graphics. “My uncle got me involved in advertising art,” David explains, “And when I was fourteen he offered me a summer job helping to paint billboards and cut vinyl for silk-screening.” David met his lovely wife Karen in 1983 and they were married in Chattanooga four years later. They moved to this area in June of 2002. Together they live in Seymour where they read, listen to music, and raise their three dogs.
