Funny isn’t it that when the holidays roll around as parents we spend so much of our precious time and energy buying our children the perfect gifts. We find exactly what our little angel has been asking for all year.

After going to 5 different stores to find it, we come home and carefully wrap it in the most beautiful wrapping paper we can find. We are just as excited as they are about opening the box.

We sit in bed the night before the big day and talk to our spouse about how we can’t wait to see their little faces light up when they open these spectacular presents we have so carefully chosen just for them. And after all the thought and effort that we put into it all, they rip open the paper, pull out what ever the toy may be, play with it for a few minutes and then proceed to play in the box. Go figure, right.

Kids of all ages love them. Just the other day my 16 year old son got a box in the mail containing his coveted guitar. Hours after receiving the long awaited guitar he was out in the road playing in the box.

He has drawn a big face on it, and it’s large enough to fit his body into so he has cut holes for his eyes and arms and the box goes from over his head to his knees. Basically he looks like Sponge Box Square head. This has been going on for days now.

It is hilarious. He runs around in the subdivision we live in and has everyone who happens to drive by laughing hysterically. It is a riot to see that even at 16 kids still appreciate a good box.

So remember folks with Halloween right around the corner save your hard earned doe and give your kids boxes, they make great costumes. Just draw whatever you like on it and viola you have a costume that all the neighbors will be talking about for years to come.

Boxes are economical and fun. And who knows if you video tape your kids box antics maybe they can be the next youtube hit. Or maybe you could win big on America’s funniest videos.
