Garland Rogers, age 79 of Seymour, passed away September 29, 2008. He fought a good fight. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Neva Rogers; infant son, Garland Rogers, Jr.; nieces, Kay Rogers, Brenda Loveday, and Martha Reed; nephew, Blake Reed; Great-nephew, Little Jackson Munsy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bruce and Annie Teague Reed; sister-in-law, Bonnie Galyon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, H.M. and Geneva Reed, Carl and Lois Reed, Dexter Reed, infants Howard and Coy Reed, Bobby Ailey, and Stearl Johnson. Survived by: Wife: Zelma Reed Rogers Brother: Gene Rogers and wife Doris Nieces: Susie Johnson and husband Ricky, and Lisa McCary Brother-in-law: Kenneth Galyon Sisters-in-law: Velma Graves and husband Jack, Anna Benson and husband Theodore, Esta Johnson, and Lois Ailey Host of Nephews, Nieces, and Friends Aunt: Toots Rogers Special Caregivers: William and Sheri Haynes The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Richard Mays, Dr. Steven Morris, Dr. Brenda Nicholson, Tennessee Cancer Specialists, and St. Mary’s Hospice. Most of all, thank God for what He has done and is going to do. Thanks to everybody for being so good to Garland and lifting him and Zelma up in prayer. Ain’t God Good! In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Zion Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Zion Hill Baptist Church, 206 Zion Hill Church Road, Sevierville, TN 37876. Funeral service 2 PM Wednesday at Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. Floyd Powell, Rev. W.A. Galyon, and Rev. Dallas Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery.
