Jean Loveday Jolly Shirk

Shirk, Jean Loveday Jolly –age 70, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord, Friday, September 26, 2008. She was a member of Maryville Church of Christ. Jean was a volunteer worker in politics, nursing homes, community service in her community and served as a leader in the Girl Scouts. She was a substitute teacher at Mt. Olive School and served as President of the Lakewood Home Demonstration Club in 1970 and 1971. Jean was President of the Knox County Council of Home Demonstration Clubs, 1970-1971 and also was the President of the Arrowhead Garden Club, 1970-1971. Preceded in death by parents, Landon and Vesta Loveday; first husband, Jim Jolly; sister, Leona Stout and brother, Roy Loveday. Survivors include husband, George W. Shirk; daughter, Sharon Hall and husband, Roger; brother, Glen Loveday; sister, Ellaree Lindsey; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM, Rev. Tom King officiating. Family and friends will meet at Mt. Olive Cemetery on Tuesday for an 11:00 AM interment service.
