Wilson, Samuel “Clay,” age 84, of Knoxville, passed away, Sunday, January 27, 2008 at St. Mary’s Medical. Mr. Wilson was of the Baptist Faith, a graduate of Knoxville High School, and retired from AT&T; after 35 years of service. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII. Preceded in death by parents, Harrison and Flora Wilson, his wife, Velma Sue Wilson, son, Steve Wilson, grandson Lance Wilson, brothers Tom, Cecil, Ernest and Jim Wilson, sister Jennie Long, nephew Holland “Pud” Long, sister-in-law Ruby Adams. Survivors include Sam C. Wilson and wife Gloria, daughter-in-law JoAnn Wilson, grandchildren Matt Wilson and wife Terri, Sammy Wilson and wife Lauren, Carly Wilson, Shelley Wilson, brother Harold “Slick” Wilson and wife Shirley, and very dear friend Bob Jones. The Wilson family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel at 9:45 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. interment service with Pastors Grant C. Bishop and Gene Hurley officiating.
