Mellie Reed Douglass

Mellie Reed Douglass, age 87, of Sevierville, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville and a beautician in Sevierville for 30 years. Mrs. Douglass loved to cook for everyone and always had Sunday dinner ready. She was also very well known for her fried apple pies. She was a loving grandmother, who loved her grandkids very much. Mrs. Douglass also enjoyed her afternoon rides with her family and butterflies. Preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Loretta “Dolly” Reed, infant daughter, Patricia Douglass; sisters, Dora Manis, Tishia Latham, and Ellen Gann, brothers; Hubert, Bill, Bruce, Mack, Frank, Woodrow, Sherlock, Roy, Kenneth and Clyde Reed. Survivors: Husband: Rudolph Douglass Daughter: Judy Hamby of Sevierville Grandchildren and spouses: Mista and Brian Asbury of Bothell, WA, Doug and Sherry Hamby of Rochelle, IL, Stacey and Rich Hicks of Rochelle, IL Great grandchildren: Derek, Jessica, Kendra and Brian Asbury, Vanessa and Corryn Hamby, Corrin and Cole Hicks Great-great grandson: Isaiah Asbury Extended family members: Gene and Mollie Douglass, Glenn and Lorena Douglass, many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: First Baptist Church, TV Ministries, 317 Parkway, Sevierville, TN 37862. Funeral Service 4 PM Sunday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Dr. Randy Davis officiating. Interment 11 AM Monday in Shiloh Cemetery.
