J.D. McDonald

McDonald, J.D. –age 84, owner and operator for McDonald Billiards Supply, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Ft. Sanders Hospital. J.D. McDonald was very proud of his thirty-one year chip from AA and wonderful friend, John Rule. He volunteered at age 17 in the Air Force serving as a bombardier in England and Italy during World War II. J.D. was called back into service during the Korean War, finishing his twenty-three years in the 278th Armored Calvary Reg. in Tennessee Army National Guard. J.D. had many lifelong friends in Knoxville and his colorful personality will be missed and remembered by all. Preceded in death by parents, Joe and Elizabeth McDonald and son, Daniel Shea McDonald. Survived by wife of sixty-one years, Clara Frances O’Connor McDonald; son, Patrick McDonald; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Barbara McDonald, Joseph and Penny McDonald; grandchildren, Reece and Jeff Foster, Caroline McDonald, Katy, James and Micah McDonald; great-grandchildren, Avery and Jacob Foster and William David Matthews. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Berry Funeral Home with a Rosary Service to follow at 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Friday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Reverend Monsignor Xavier Mankel officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Anderson, Jim Wright, Kenneth Padgett, George McCrary, Brian O’Connor and John Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Wood, John Rule and John L. O’Connor. Full military honors by East Tennessee Honor Guard.
