Lennis Clayton Evans Burkhardt

Burkhardt, Lennis Clayton Evans, age 80, of Knoxville, went home Wednesday, November 21, 2007, to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness. Lennis retired from South Central Bell in 1978 with 30 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She also was a long time member of Mt Olive Baptist Church. Lennis was preceded in death by her first husband, James Newton Evans; sisters, Grayce Oaks and Hazel Adkins; brothers, Roy and Fred Clayton. Survivors include husband, James O. Burkhardt; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Ron Foust, Doris and Stuart Blodgett; grandchildren, Stephanie Owens and husband Jody, Jonathan Foust, Ben and Stephen Blodgett; and great granddaughter, Abby Owens. Step family includes Jimmy, Gayle, Doug, and Peggy Burkhardt, Angie and Larry Wells, 8 step grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to Sharon Mitchell for her loving care. Family and friends will meet Saturday at Asbury Cemetery for a 1:00 PM Graveside Service with Rev. Jody Owens and Rev. Jimmy Burkhardt officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Family will receive friends 5 – 7 PM Friday at Berry Funeral Home.
