Mr. Ackron Porter

Services for Mr. Ackron Porter will be held, August 02, 2007, at 07:00 PM at the following locations: Mount Calvary Baptist Church 1807 Dandridge Avenue Knoxville, TN 37915 (865) 524-5912 Porter, Ackron (A.P.) ? age 69 of Knoxville departed this life unexpectedly Sunday, July 29, 2007 at his home. He was known to many friends as the ?Sock and Tie Man?. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. His employment has been with General Shale and Brick; a chef at S&W; Cafeteria and he retired from the University of Tennessee as supervisor of the Athlete?s Cafeteria after 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Rosa Porter; daughter, Ethel Floretta Porter Adebayo; brothers, John, Benjamin and Leon Porter; and a sister, Emma L. Weaver. Ackron leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife, Lillian Ann Porter; daughters, Sharon (Anthony) Porter Ramsey, Carolyn (Wendell) Summey and Maggie Darlene Fulton; sons, Ackron Porter, Jr. and Alphonso (Marion) McAllister; sisters, Lula Bell (Andrew) Lanier, Anniston, Alabama, Arrie Anne King, Ollie Pearl (Roy) Browner, Lyndia Mae Fulton, all of Knoxville, and Pauline McClellan of Louisville, Kentucky; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 2, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and the funeral to follow at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Interment is Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Highland South Cemetery. Rev. Leroy Franklin, officiating. The family will also be receiving friends at the residence, 2307 Dillon Street, Knoxville.
