Fred E. Cooper

Fred E. Cooper, age 82 of Seymour, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2007, at UT Medical Center in the arms of his loving wife, Pat. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on this day. Fred was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. His strength left him but his faith never did. He loved his Lord, his family, pets Pacita, Tiki and Cooper and the UT Vols. Fred was an avid UT fan, a member of the Dogwood Dulcimers and proudly served his country in World War II. He was in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Philippines Liberation Campaign, receiving many decorations and awards including the Purple Heart. Fred owned and operated an industrial catering service for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Trula Virgil Loy Cooper and Clarence E. Cooper, two sons Gary Eugene Cooper of Los Angeles and John F. Cooper of Knoxville, and stepdaughter Kimberly Ann Dyer of Rockford. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 40 years, Patricia Wood Cooper of Seymour; sons J.C. Cooper and wife Shannon of Newport News, VA, Tony Cooper of Knoxville; special daughter Lisa Watson of Knoxville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends; special acknowledgement and appreciation of grandson Robert Cooper. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, P.O. Funeral service will be held 8 PM Thursday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. Tom Robins officiating. Inurnment 11 AM Saturday in Glenwood Cemetery in Powell with full military honors.
