Roy Perkey

Perkey, Roy Hamilton, age 87 of Powell, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 24, 2007, after a brief illness. He was employed with Fulton Sylphan for over 25 years, and was also a home builder in Powell. After retirement he was a longtime volunteer with Western Heights Baptist Center, Habitat for Humanity, Mobile Meals, St. Mary?s Auxiliary, and his church and Sunday school class, First Baptist Powell. He was most happy helping others. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Lennon Perkey to whom he was married for 55 years until her death in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Troy and Lloyd; and a sister, Ethel Keaton. Survived by his daughter, Theressa Brittain; sons, Richard and Jane, Bart and Christy; grandchildren, Nelson and Devan Brittain, Christy Pittman, Kevin and Shylon Perkey, Elizabeth Perkey, Katrina Perkey, Angela Perkey, and Ginny Perkey; great grandchildren, Chase Brittain, Jessica and Kody Pittman, and Caitlyn Perkey. A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Powell on Friday January 26 at 7:00PM with Dr. Phil Jones and Rev. Mike Powell. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Powell, Habitat for Humanity, or St. Mary?s Auxiliary. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00PM Friday night at First Baptist Powell. Interment will be held on Saturday morning at 10:00AM at Greenwood Cemetery.
