Velma Jannette Green Smith

Smith, Velma Jannette Green, age 73, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 16, 2007, at Asbury Place Nursing Home. She was Retired from Knox County School System with 27 years of service as a food service worker at Doyle High School. She was a member of the New Sevier Home Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, George and Ollie Green, two brothers and two sisters. Survived by husband, Eugene (Gene) Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sandy Smith of Knoxville; brother, Media (Bud) Green; sisters, Flora Green, Martha Smith, all of Knoxville. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Asbury Place Nursing Home, and Blount Memorial Hospice. Funeral services will be at 5 PM, Sunday, in the Berry Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Chris Francis officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 AM Monday at Lenoir City Cemetery for graveside services.
