Betty Wilkerson Hughes

Hughes, Betty Wilkerson ?age 74, of South Knoxville, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2007 at Baptist Hospital. She was a member of South Knoxville Baptist Church, where she served in the church library for many years. Betty was also a member of Knoxville General Hospital Alumni Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and an active member of South Knoxville Retired Teachers. Preceded in death by husband, Frank P. Hughes, Jr.; parents, Raymond and Eliza Wilkerson of Lenoir City; brother, Jim Wilkerson of South Knoxville; and brother-in-law, Bill Brown of Lenoir City. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Cindy Hughes of Anderson, South Carolina; special granddaughter, Haley Hughes of Aiken, South Carolina; loving sister, Thelma Brown of Lenoir City; beloved niece, Lisa Shehan and husband, Wade; 4 great-nieces, Masee, Madie, Abby and Arly Shehan, all of Knoxville. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM on Monday with funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Chaplain Dan Hicks and Dr. Glen Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wade Shehan, Ed Lee, Garland Lee, Sam Lee, Millard Wilkerson, Jr., Bob Hudson, Rick Welton and Joe Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of South Knoxville Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to South Knoxville Baptist Church, 522 Sevier Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
