Joseph F. Willmering

Joseph Willmering, age 86, a long time resident of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Memorial Day in Jupiter, Florida with his children by his side. Joseph was a World War II veteran with the Department of the Navy as a SeaBee stationed in Virginia. He later worked for Oak Ridge National Laboratories as a chemical engineer for over 20 years before retiring in Seymour. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Delores Willmering in 2003. They have three children, Mary, Mike, and Karen who graduated from The University of Tennessee. They were blessed with six grandchildren. Joe's compassion and love for others was shown beautifully in his volunteer work with the St. Vincent DePaul Society from his parish at Holy Family Catholic Church. He was very active in the parish and assisted the church in many building projects. Joe's thoughfulness and insight were very valuable gifts to his friends and family. His parents were Joseph and Stella Willmering of St. Louis Missouri. Joseph has a brother, Roland, who resides in Illinois. The funeral mass will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Church with Father Thomas O'Connell officiating. Graveside service and internment will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in Atchley's Seymour Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends following Mass in the Fellowship Hall at Holy Family Catholic Church.
