Betty Jane Long Lyle

Lyle, Betty Jane Long ?died on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at St. Mary?s Hospital after a lengthy battle with Parkinson?s Disease. She was 77. A lifelong resident of South Knoxville, Mrs. Lyle was a member of the Board of Directors of Woodlawn Cemetery for 18 years. She also worked for many years as the principal secretary at Doyle High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Lyle, former Conductor of the Knoxville Choral Society and Supervisor of Music for Knox County Schools, and by her parents, Luther and Verna Long. She is survived by her children: Linda Lyle and Kerry Roehr, Ben and Carla Lyle, and Steve and Tammy Lyle, all of Knoxville; grandchildren: Madison Lyleroehr, Lindsey Lyle, Rhett Lyle, Zoee Lyle and Dylan Lyle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Joyce Whaley of Liberty, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Betty Lawson Lyle and Leota Goforth Lyle and a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2006 at St. James Episcopal Church, 1101 North Broadway, with burial immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery. The Reverend Joseph H. Ballard, Jr. will officiate. The family requests memorial gifts be made to the Betty Lyle Fund for South-Doyle High School?s College and Career Center. Friends may call at their convenience Thursday or Friday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
