Samuel Fredrick (Fred) Humphrey

Humphrey, Samuel Fredrick (Fred) ?age 70, of South Knoxville, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at his residence. He owned and operated Fred?s Garage for 40 years. Preceded in death by mother, Dodie Gentry Dixon of Lenoir City; father, Roy Humphrey of Loudon; devoted brother-in-law, Michael Dean Givens, Sr. Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Joyce Sue Humphrey; daughter, Brenda Lee (Rick) Bales of Knoxville; nephew (who he raised as a son), Michael Dean Givens, Jr.; grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon) Hager of Knoxville; Daniel (Ashley) Costner of Nashville; Sarah; Leah; Jessica; Katie and Sydni Givens of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Justin Hager and Isabella Costner; half-sister, Patricia (Tommy) Canster of Vonore; half-brother, Robert (Gladys) Dixon of Lenoir City; special niece, Lisa Huelsman, Haley and Mattie, of Knoxville; a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Special thanks to Knoxville Inpatient Physicians; Dr. Elise Schriver; Dr. Charles Dhyanchand; UT Emergency Room family, where Joyce works; UT-9East staff; and to UT Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 8 PM, Rev. Tommy Clabough officiating. Family and friends will meet at Mt. Olive Cemetery on Friday for 1 PM graveside services.
